I ran the trial and really wanted to like this programme but found the creation of a decent web page way too difficult for a beginner. Also, the examples you highlight as being created using your software look like they were partially created elsewhere? My main problem is getting something up and running easily but felt I was fighting the software throughout the process. It might be me but I had hoped for something less confusing.

Hello Jinker, Thanks for trying the software out, and for posting your impressions. The examples in the Showcase were all created in Antenna - though some of the graphics will have been imported. I'm always interested in making the software easier and more accessible for beginners - so please email me via the contact form on www.stormdance.net and let me know which areas you found difficult or confusing. Constructive feedback helps to shape future versions of the software. Cheers, Stormdance www.stormdance.net

Thanks for your reply. It might be that i'm making it harder than it really is? However, it's been enough to put me off and i'm sure that's not what you intend? I have printed out the manual in full and will spend some more time seeing why i'm struggling to put a decent page together. The tutorials cover some specific areas and I think there should be a walk through on how to create a page/site from start to finish.
Thanks again for getting straight back and when i've studied more i'll get back to you with some proper feedback.

Hi I downloaded the trial a week ago and had a play. Being daunted by Dreamweaver and Frontpage I was looking for something simple that had a bit of capability beneath the surface. I looked at Fusion ,Sitespinner and others and found as you said that you spent time fighting the software or baffled. The simple ones were ok until you wanted to do something other than the built in stuff they supplied. With Antenna I initially found it at first confusing. I think it was because like most I like to start without reading the tutorial! The use of icons also may look nice but initially you keep having to look up what they mean. If you have a short attention span Antenna gets dismissed. However i have persevered and I know at present I have only scratched the surface. But I am getting to love it and thats in a week. I have now bought it.The use of layers is great as I am used to CAD and so I have got into it. I wanted software to rewrite my companies simple web site that was done by a so called professional and I did a better one in a few hours . I am improving it at the moment and Il post its address when finished. Dont give up on Antenna is to me , a non techy lay man ,super software.

Thanks for your response Bernard. You hit the nail on the head when you said " If you have a short attention span Antenna gets dismissed. " because that's what happened. I'm afraid I am one of those people who haven't the patience to fight against something when I don't really know if the effort will reap some kind of benefit? Your reply suggests that the learning curve is worth while and I will try the software again as I like the overall look, and results as demonstrated in one or two of the examples.
I still think a walkthrough would be beneficial as it might encourage new users to pay more attention, and that's got to be a good thing if you are trying to market something?
I have the manual printed out and have taken the time to read most of it. Wether it's the programme for me i'm not sure? However, I do appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I'm a Netobjects user migrated to Antenna - stay with it.
Just bang something out, you will get more proficient in time.
PS - Abyss2.com is one of mine - 100% made in Antenna.

Sorry, but I have to insist in the complex startup. I have downloaded the trial and I wonder who is the correct customer for the Antenna. If you are a newbie in web creation, you will feel lost, and if you are an advanced programer, you don´t need most of the features of Antenna.
To be constructive, I will tell you what in my opinion makes Antenna surprisingly difficult: lack of templates, a wizard, and import/translation of html pages. Also the available tutorials are too advanced and the introduction on "start a site" is mising.
As I didn´t find templates, I tried to import some webs as start point, but I didn´t find the way to do so (this is the reason why I have arrived here at the forum and also the reason why other people is asking for the feature of importing "raw" html)
In the oposite side, the creation of buttons or tabs seems to be extremelly easy, but the creation of a web as the Robert Albretch´s seems to be just a dream or needs hundreds of hours learning and trying...
Antenna looks a really interesting approach for web creation and in my opinion can change the future of internet site building, but need to be reoriented to the just arrived user.
Good job, very professional, excelent idea. Only needs to hear some of the coments of unexperienced people.

I've now had time to read the manual and still haven't concluded that this is a programme for beginners. As for staying with it until I get the hang of it! I don't have the time to waste trying to fight a programme. I have a copy of Serif's Webplus 9 and that walks you through the creation of a new site. It also has templates to play around with to let you see how stuff hangs together. I am a beginner but have created several web sites using frontpage and hoped for something that made the creation of a simple site easy? I still think a walk through video or tutorial would help greatly but until then or a radical change this isn't what I'm looking for, sadly.

Hi Jinker,
I've just added some Getting Started Video Tutorials to the Antenna Tutorials forum. There's a brief introduction to the Antenna interface, a couple showing the basics of adding graphics and buttons to your web pages, and a tutorial demonstrating how to create a digital photo gallery in under 1 minute.
Cheers, Stormdance

Hi Julian
Is it possible to download the tutorials?
I only have a very dial-in access at home, so viewing the tutorials when I need them is a very pain procedure.
Regards
Bill

Hi Bill,
I was going to suggest selecting Save (Web Page Complete) from within your web browser. However I just tried this in IE and it didn't work.
I'll see if I can zip some tutorials up so they can be downloaded as well as viewed online.
Cheers, Stormdance.
