Im making a demo page to get myself back into website design. I added the search bar a few weeks ago and after searching the forums I thought I did was was required to have Google crawl the site. I added the XML file and think I did a few other things but the site bar is not working. Any heads up welcome.Thank you and stay safe!

Hi Fken,
It can take Google a while to add a new website to its index. Incoming links from other websites can speed things up, as it makes the site easy for Google to discover, and suggests the content is valuable.
Try searching for your site in Google, to see whether it shows up in Google's search results. For example, a search for site:example.com will indicate how many pages are indexed for the site example.com.
Cheers, J

Thanks for the reply Ju. Google crawled my site quite a bit ago but I still cant get the search to work. Is it possible to take us through the steps again? Or have it as a sticky on this forum? Im sure there will be others searching for the same, seeing that Graham is not active anymore with his past very useful scripts .

Hi Fken,
Yes - if the site has been crawled and is coming up OK in Google's search results, then:
1. Add a Site Search object to the page. 2. In the Properties palette, set the site property to your website (e.g. http://www.stormdance.net)
Preview the page in your web browser to test it.
If possible, can you post a link to the page where search is not working for you?
Cheers, J
