I've done this one for my sister-in-law who is about to get published with this new book of hers. It's still a work in progress but I had some fun with nivo slider thanks to Graham's demo I could figure it out. The painful bit was sizing the pics all the same size somehow. Thanks to EricD - I got the FB and Twitter buttons going too. www.sydneyssong.net

Hi dharma,
looks great but I noticd the 2 menue links the Book and about IA dont open above the slide show, they are behind it and you cant read all the links correct. You need to set either the menu links to a zindex of 9999 or set nivo to a zindex of 0. You can so this on the main menu names via an event script.

I have currently got zindex for the BOOK and IA menus with below:
[#menu1].style.zIndex='1';
I did notice the menu options kept flickering and sometimes fell over to the nevo.
I bumped up the zindex on the button and the menu events from 1 to 9999 and the flickering has gone away - thanks Graham. I'm not quite sure what zindex is for but it helps with menus.

zindex is the like layers. So a zindex of 1 would be on the bottom and 9999 makes it always appear on top. This is a common event script I use on menues when I use my -Y value to make sub menus etc or to make opjects to appear in front of others.

actually this problem only happens in IE9 - it doesn't happen on chrome. I haven't gotten rid of the problem. will work on it.

to stop the flicker check the events for mouseover and add the same event in the mousemove box.

It looks like it's only happening on my small work laptop - it flickers when I go to other sites with menus. When I test it against my netbook I don't see the flicker. So I'll leave it.

Hi Dharma
Great work on the website - it's amazing how many changes you make along the way - well worth it in the end and I'm so glad the fb and tweet seem to be working ok!!!!
I do like your drop down menu box - I think I will need to start updating a couple of my sites once I figure out how to do it!!!!
Graham and Frank (and the other gurus out there, and of course Julian!!) you guys are awesome - I've learnt so much from the forums - keep up the great work.
All the best Dharma...

Thanks EricD. As this is only my 2nd website my pattern of developing them seems to be get the bare bones up and then keep moulding iteratively until it makes some sense. With this one I've learned heaps so much so I want to fix my first website.
Drop Down menus - I borrowed Graham's tip using events and hiding menus with y=-1000 and making them appear and disappear when they're supposed to using mouse events. It's pretty easy once you get the knack of it.
