Wow Jon... I am so sorry for your recent pains in life. I know what it is like !!!! I could continue to say nothing, or maintain some 'normality' for you. (The latter being prefered). I now feel a greater resolve to ensure you do NOT feel alone. (Family excluded). I wish you a peaceful recovery, and will msg you soon.... Glenn

Well, I have tried all the suggestions regarding accessing the diary and it is still not working, so am at a loss! When I take the password protection off the folder from the hosting side, it goes straight to the admin link, but as soon as I password protect it again, it goes to the strange incomplete index page? It seems to work when I just view the site on my laptop from the cache though! Any more ideas any one? please!

Hi Jon, I tried to access it via this url www.aep.x10.mx/diary.php and it also does the same thing, I would be going back to the host and see what is going on. I even tried to set up a dummy free account with X10 but it gives no control panel or anything to play with so I can't even get into anything to see if I can duplicate the problem you are having. I sent them an email over 5 days ago but no response yet. Graham

I have another site that I was building for my daughter zoejones.x10.mx/client%20area.htm If you click on Annabelle's Christening, the password option pops up, so it is working on that site, which is hosted exactly the same as the AEP site. Think I will compare some settings in the cpanel to see if I can spot anything. PS she decided not to continue with her photography and has decided to do psychology at Uni instead - not much difference! lol

Ok, so from the Antenna side of things, the only 2 differences that I can see are that I have created the link on a separate layer on the AEP site and that the pages are php on AEP and htm on the photography site. However the link was working previously despite these differences! Had a quick look at the cpanel and couldn't see anything different in the way the password protected folders were set up, so I think I am going to have to ask x10 to look at it.

Well, I have finally got the password issue sorted. I posted on the hosting forum and a member of the hosting support team resolved the problem:- "Hi, It looks like you had a .htaccess file in your public_html directory, which was rewriting "diaryadministration" to your index.php file. This .htaccess file might have come from an old WordPress installation. I have renamed the .htaccess file to ".htaccess.old", and I have changed the file permissions of "diaryadministration" to 755. Your password protected directory now appears to be working. " I am now a happy bunny and can get on with the other parts of the site. Jon

Lol, think you need to mark that as (Agent Top 10) and I am going to put a sticky note on laptop to check that before I do anything else!
I wouldn't mind but it was from when I was trying to use Wordpress to build the site, so should have deleted it anyway!

Hey Jon !.... Am glad aspects of your dilemma have been sorted !!! All well and good. I've been out of action again myself due to medical issues (sigh), but the reason I previously mentioned a "totally new idea" was for the following reasons..... I was thinking about your utilization of .PHP and Server-Sides, Passwords etc, and thought of using a simplified site with 'Google-Calendar' in a 'Visual-HTML' element. The 'Calendar' does everything you want, can be viewed publicly, and ANYONE who is 'deemed' as an administrative 'editor' can make changes/updates via the Google-Calendar log-in. The whole setup process is easy, and new editors added by 'Invites'. Can show you a sample if you like... (now back in land of living too!..) I was then going to help you with GRAPHICS (multi-faceted) as THAT is what i know mainly. If happy to proceed on your own, then that's GREAT!.... but i enjoy helping, (see new thread/post), as does Graham, Frank & most others !!

Hi Glenn, I did look at using Google Calendar, however the guy that will be updating the calendar althoughfit and well is in his 70's and knows very little about the internet etc, so I wanted to make the editing of the calendar as simple as possible which is why I was creating the password protected link, so he can access everything from the site. The teamup calendar is really easy to teach him and also easy to add extra calendars or extra features as becomes necessary (which I will do for him), whilst keeping everything similar from his point of view. BTW I have pm'ed you a couple of messages, which may be of interest to you regarding graphic type stuff. Cheers, Jon
