Jon... Graham would certainly be the expert when it comes to Server-Sides and PHP & email /logins etc.. What i know in that regard, i could put on the back of a matchbox haha... However... I've had a bit of experience with 'x10hosting' (and '000webhost'). I take it that your (original?) www.aep.x10.mx is a free hosting option, as per either of the above. I take it that your NEW ( registered) real domain-name, is now the 'www.athertonenvironmentalprojects.org.uk' one. Performing a 'Who-Is' on the one above, shows that the 'registrar' you used to register the new domain-name is www.1and1.co.uk. (And more!) Am not sure if you only used them for the domain-name, or for hosting too ? By clicking on the 'www.atherton....' link, it should NOT show the 'www.aep.x10.mx' in the site link. You have propably just done a ' re-direct' from your new domain-name For ' x10hosting', (if still using them for tha actual hosting), you should set the SERVER detailswithin your ' Domain-Name-Registration' account to.... (as per x10's notes......).... To use your own domain name with x10Hosting's services, as well as adding your domain name to cPanel, you will need to update your domain name's nameserver - please refer to your domain name provider's help pages for advice/assistance. x10Hosting's nameservers are:
ns1.x10hosting.com (198.91.80.2)
ns2.x10hosting.com (108.178.57.230)
Please note that DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours.
This looks confusing to people, as it doesn't SEEM to link to your 'site', but there is more going on behind the 'scenes'. Hope this is a start at least, but i think you must start there. THEN the real technical stuff Graham will know !

This is what I was saying in an earlier post about it being weird after you redirected. It should take on the new domain name not go to your old free hosting and that would be why its screwing up the login etc.
I used x10hosting hosting once to put up some demo files and it did some very strange things and riddled the demo site with ads so I removed it and never went near it again

Hi Graham, Glenn, Just checked email and can't seem to access the script? I have used x10 hosting a few times and not had any probs as long as you sign in to the cpanel at least once every 3 weeks, they continue to host for free without advertisements, which I am happy to do as I will be putting pics on and keeping the site updated regularly. The only thing I haven't done before with x10 hosting is to purchase a domain and redirect to them (previously purchased domains and used yahoo geocities many moons ago). I haven't got around to changing dns settings etc yet as that was something I was going to do nearer to completion of the site itself, but if you guys think that may be causing the problem, then I am going to have to look into changing it sooner! The reason I purchased the domain through 1&1 was because they offered free email with the domain, which means the group I am building the site for don't have to pay any monthly hosting fees in order to get the domain email address, if that makes sense, as everywhere I looked, I had to purchase hosting to get email.

Hi Graham. Yes you are right what you were hinting earlier. Regarding 'free' hosting sites, i also know what you mean! '000webhost' now actually uses 'x10hosting' i think. I found them great for temp promo sites for customers to view, before being "really-out-there" haha.. They don't use 'ads' anymore as such, but if the 'temp-site' has not had any recent activity then there is an annoying message on the screen when you access the 'site', and when left too long like that, is taken down. This is what i do now, immediately after creating a new free account.... Access the Control-Panel, from 'Members-Area' (Find the 'Site', and click the 'Control-Panel' icon) Scroll down to "Account Tools" section, and click the 'Remove Inactivity Ads' Icon It states this.... Reset Inactivity Ads on Account Incorrect inactivity stats might cause banners to appear on your website. Reseting these stats fixes the issue and removes any banners.
Click the 'Reset Stats' button. You will then see... Inactivity Ads on Account xxxxxxxxxx.xxx has been reset! Enjoy our services.
You will not be bothered any more, and the site will always be active !!
I actually have about 10 to 15 'free' sites going at a time, until the customer is happy, and I (we) set up a permanent proper Domain-Name. Used to use MANY providers, but lately am upgrading to a 'paid' hosting plan with them, gives you 'free' domain-name-registration too. (Tried 'Crazy-Domains' etc etc, but this is a simple single-package for customers). Have a great night Graham. Glenn

[RE-EDIT] Jon, you don't have to rely on the 'Domain-Name-Register' for EMAILS !!! That is incorporated within the HOSTING package, which at the moment is the FREE hosting account with 'X10'.
Once you DOMAIN NAME is linked to your 'free-hosting' package, you can have/use any email addresses you want for free !! That is done within 'X10' hosting, not the 'Domain-name' reg. You can have any number of email addresses, like,..... info@athertonenvironmentalprojects.org.uk or enquiries@athertonenvironmentalprojects.org.uk etc etc. All included within the free hosting package. Nothing to do with the 'domain-name'

You said.... The reason I purchased the domain through 1&1 was because they offered free email with the domain....
so were they offering you a hosting service too, or at least an email-service.... Sometimes, they do that to trap you in to them, for everything.
If someone had NO website, but wanted email contact, then that is an option Jon. They were just up-selling, what you already have for free, via the 'hosting' company. Don't fret Jon, is only a few Dollars/Euros/Pounds, but it is hard at first to grasp.
However, I'm sure Graham would know how that might be implicated re: serverside data and how it should be implemented depending on the 'actual' server ?

hmmm, so once i have a purchased domain, I can then use the free host to create any email under the purchased domain name within the free hosts cpanel? It didn't cost me any more though as the email hosting is free as long as I have the domain name purchased through them, but it does seem to be limiting me to creating just 1 email ie admin@athertonenvironmentalprojects.org.uk and I can't create another eg jon@athertonenvironmentalprojects.org.uk unless i just change the admin bit?

Hi Jon. (aep) Slack medical-day today.... Hope Graham sorted the other tech business for you. Re: hosting/domain-name... I didn't realize that "1&1" offered free email for you. That's good. (nor that 'x10' only offered 1 or 2 email addresses for the 'free' account) I also reviewed my old accounts with 'x10', and the ones i normally use now. (000webhost). Seems things have changed. 'x10' gets rid of the monthly-checkin even for the $1/mth "Illuminated Upgrade" ?! Other than that, the 'plans' seem on par with '000webhost'. (See my reply Jul 26, 2015 at 8:55pm above). I USUALLY use THEM now, for temp sites, and when upgrading to a permanent site for most customers, instead of an 'upgrade' as such, a NEW paid account is set up, and they throw in 'Domain-Name-Registration' for free, so there is no porting to worry about etc. The old temp site i usually keep for a short while, for edits/mods/approvals etc. Of course people are open to use what ever they want, for domains or hosting/email, but i was only trying to make sense of what was happening in your situation, as it stands/stood. I hope I have not led you astray!... but the Domain/Host/Server-links are important, and often misleading. Have a great day/night... Glenn

Hi Glenn, The group I am building the site for don't want any ongoing costs apart from purchasing the domain every couple of years, so that is why I host at x10. If I had realised about the email, then I would of purchased the domain through 123reg as I could have done it for 10 years at a time according to them. I just need to find some time to get stuck into sorting the site, domain and email issues as they have now given me their write ups and pics, so need to get cracking! Just got so many other things to do at home.

Hey Jon.... Have not seen a followup recently... Everything you have said/quoted/asked/explained is still on my mind, due to the fact that i had intervened at some level in regards to your issue, and so feel partially responsible to go further. I can't help feeling that there is more to your 'aep' site that you are getting frustrated with! You have had some great advice/ideas from Frank & Graham after looking at your site in detail too. If you would like me to further correspond via private/personal messages to you, then i am perfectly willing to do so. NOTHING has been said/done/offered wrong by all, but i have a totally NEW way of approaching the whole site/problem that i think will be good! If you/I wish to share it here later when all is done, then that's good. Glenn

Hi Glenn, thanks for that. I have been promising to decorate the lounge since before Christmas (and before my heart attack) and am currently scraping the old wallpaper off. But because of the H/A I have to be reminded to slow down, so that is tiring me out a bit at the moment and by the time evening comes, I am too tired to work on the site. Hopefully will have the room done by the end of the week and then can do more on the site. I have just been told to havee a break so that's why I am on here now lol!
