Hello. I was just trying the mobile redirect tool but I can't find the way for it to work. I know there is a tutorial about mobile redirect but it does not explain how to use the tool, and in Antenna's user guide, it is explained briefly. I followed the steps in the guide but when I tested it in my phone, it sent me to the desktop version. Thanks a lot Monica

Hi Monica, basically to build your smartphone site you need to build 2 sites in one. 1. your normal site. 2. your mobile version. I usually have a different theme for both sites and the mobile one is only 320 in width. I then have a folder called mobile and under it is my mobile pages like this m-index.htm etc download this file for a working example antennaaddons.grahamscomputers.net/demos/smartphone-new.zipyou will notice on any page that also has a mobile page as well it has the redirect object on it pointing to its mobile version as well and it is set to be up to 7.9 inches so what would happen if you view the site on your mobile device if the screen size is less than 7.9 in it would redirect and above that it wont. see my business site here www.grahamscomputers.net view it on your pc and your phone and see what you get Graham

Thanks for the neat explanation of the mobile re-direct, so easy to follow and a big help to my mobile project, by the way how did you get the "bling" into the graphics?

Hi Here is a mobile issue, when i reduce the graphics from my big site in the razor part of 5 I get backgrounds disapearing etc so I moved to Gimp, all is well until I put them back into the mobile page when I see very jagged edges, any clues as to what to do (they are Gifs & Pngs as I have palayed arounnd with resolution, sharpening, etc, also when working on a 320 page the page is too small to see, any way to zoom it up as I work?

I Andy,
i use a program (now obsolete) called photoimpact 13 and just resize any graphis I have for mobile sites and its all good
Can you send me some of your images that are large and tell me what size you want them and I can try and redo them for you

Backgrounds disappearing in 5 etc.? <--- I don't understand? Razor can't actually change backgrounds.
Jagged edges happen mostly if you have transparencies within images and use GIF's and PNG8. both deal with transparency as 0 or 100% no in between so the edges can become jagged. Also GIF and PNG8 have a limited color spectrum. So the alternatives become png24 which can result (not always) in larger file size... and always smoother images... or you can use JPG but forgo the transparency.
When resizing images for the mobile you don't have to reduce it to under 320 px you can actually leave it at 640 to achieve a HD retina effect. If you leave the image at double the actual size used it can be zoomed. Most mobile phone download images faster then desktops these days. Also ( a tip) Work on the image at full size... then only reduce prior to bring into Antenna. Working on a small image is not fun.
I use Photoshop CS2 (very old version I think its still a free download on Adobe look it up) but again if you understand GIMP its a very sophisticated program and should do anything you need.
Cheers, Frank

Quick thought... If the image looked good before placing in Antenna you might be resizing it disproportionally in Antenna... before using the border arrows to resize hold-down the "Ctrl" button, then resize... it will then resize the image proportional keeping the original height to width ratio intact. If you resize a 320x320 to say 280x300 you will see jagged areas in the image because the original ratio has been altered.
Cheers, Frank

Graham Thanks for the offer bit that will not really help cos its not the large files but most small ones on menu bars etc, I think it might be transparency causing it , so am going to try re-drawing the lot and see what happens, this came about from experimenting with some files from a later site and these downscale nicely in Gimp and display properly. Frank Thanks for the tips. as I told Graham, am going to redraw them all, as it seems to be transparency that's causing it, by the way on the Razor thing, sorry it was not the background that disappeared but the foreground, have a look at the file attached, bung it in razor on your system, reduce to 30% of original and what I got was only the transparent background left, however shows as a black rectangle in viewer!! In Gimp I have discovered a neat addin, that allows you to apply a reduction to a whole site at once (plus other efects like colour, etc etc), add the m- prefix and keeps the directories as original so saves a bunch of time, if your interested its found at www.alessandrofrancesconi.it/projects/bimpAttachments:

Strange I grabbed that topbar.png image (above) and brought it into Antenna. Once in antenna I double clicked it and it opened the image in Photorazor... resized it down to 228px from 760 (30%) hit OK. It worked on this end...
If you want to the same image on the desktop and mobile... then simply duplicate the full size image. it will create a topbar1.png then resize the topbar1.png only bring it into the mobile.
Hope something here helps, Frank

Thanks Graham for the help. I still can't do it. In fact, I exported the project you shared above -without moving anything- and it won't work. I noticed Antenna is not exporting the mobile.theme, in any project. In fact, it does not export any .theme if I change the name Site1.theme to another name; if I leave it it exports it. And even if I leave the name untouched and apply the settings for the mobile, it won't work Here's my example: www.monicapena.com.mx/pruebaThanks a lot
