Get the cursor to start in a particular field on a form

I want to get the cursor to appear in a particular field on a form when a page opens, any clues on  a script that would do this?

Have you tried to set that fields tab order to 1 so it's first

Did that but that still doesn't put the cursor as active in the field, I need a way of setting the focus to that field, any clues ?
